Love – the most powerful narcotic. When it affects, it truly affects. When you feel it, you know how it runs through your veins. It can put a halt to the rotation of the earth, making the universe appear stationary except for you two. True love knows no boundaries. It’s an infinite ocean which leads you into a hurricane and you’re stuck in it forever. True love stays with you and you hope this person will too. It nourishes you more than any food. True love ain’t ordinary and it won’t come around often.
At first love is like Spring – blossoms everywhere. The heart is thrilled with excitement to see or even hear from the other person, while you’re both still a little unsure about what to do with the feeling. Then its Summer – the temperatures seem to rise as you can’t get enough of each other. Its so hot and passionate that it feels your heart is on fire for the person you love. Following the summer comes Fall – the other person is not just a part of your day, they are a part of who you are as a person. They are always in your thoughts and you don’t realise it. And then, love has its Winter too – you fight, you hurt each other but then, because you know how it will destroy both of you, you get back and love each other again. And thats how spring follows.
Wondering why am I talking about love today?? Its just that my true love was always around me but I never realised it. It was my love that made me feel passionate, excited, thrilled, happy and even screwed up. My eternal love is my love for clothes. My true love lies in Couture and can’t be replaced by anyone. While designing I feel each emotion and every design reflects what I had felt while drafting it. I experience my own seasons with the clothes I make. The colors, the fabrics, the surfacing, the cuts, the blends, the trims – everything has its own meaning. Clothes are not just a part of me as a person, they owe me more than I owe myself. I love to create them more than I love to flaunt them. I can never feel more content than when I see others wearing my label. It nourishes me more than any cuisine and I can never starve when I am around them.
October, every year, is the month when wedding bells start ringing all over the nation. As my label, primarily, is about Indian wedding couture, brides and grooms come up to me to get their outfits designed. Off and on, I am on a meeting with a couple who is about to get married in a few day’s time. They are so full of love and happiness. There is hope for a better, brighter and blooming future in every boy’s and girl’s mind who is in love and getting married. The entire aura gets so positive and cheerful that it feels like the entire world is in love.
Today’s post is an epitome of my love for couture and I designed it while being lost in the magnifico feeling one has when in love. Just like the man you love makes you feel you are the most beautiful girl on earth, so does this ensemble. Just like, after being in love you feel you possess all riches of the universe, so is the feeling you get wearing this elaborate piece of couture.
While designing and shooting the same, I always make sure that I feel my inspiration – as it’s said, “Its important to get into the character”. Gold embroidered top, Marsala French skirt, bold wine lips, hair to one side, longing in the dark black eyes, glow on the cheeks, etc, kept the inspiration intact.
Within the periphery of wearability, ‘In My Clothes’ could be called ‘In My Couture’ for this particular post.. haha!!
