“It-Girl” is a jargon that refers to a young girl who is beautifully stylish and can flaunt her oomph effortlessly. It-girl is a girl everyone wants to be. She is someone who is always in her fashion avatar, but no one will ever know in a glance, as it is a child’s play for her. She’s got a signature style, a style that can be felt once you scroll down her Instagram or Facebook feeds, a style that leaves you in wonders as to how she sets her apart, a style that is so unpredictable. The term “It” was literally used by Rudyard Kipling in 1904, “It isn’t beauty, so to speak, nor good talk necessarily. It’s just ‘It’.”
Now you know, the way you dress up comes before everything else. So gear up ladies, it is time to step out of the cliche periphery.
Imperfection is the new perfection, so being over groomed ain’t necessary any more. You can leave your hair messy, or just smudge an eye-shadow all over the eye without any eye-liner, wear a half-tucked shirt, wear a pop-up lipstick with pastel or white ensembles, or carry a backpack with your maxi. If you feel comfortable in heels (like I can even run in them) wear them with anything and everything. I wear a pair of heels even with my night jumper.. LOL!! If you are comfortable only in flats, don’t be afraid of rocking them even with a cocktail dress. Often people define styling as a combination of attire, make-up, jewellery, shoes, bags, etc. But for me, they are just elements which you should miss now and then and try not to get overboard with stuff. Always keep in mind that “being effortless” is not just a catchphrase, its a synonym to a super-stylish way of life.
In today’s post I wear a form-fitted dress from my own label “Shruti S”, made out of two knitted fabrics bonded together. The dirty-white epidermis is laser cut into a mesh and is pasted onto a mint-green layer of the same fabric. A dress, perfect for a casual date, or a formal meeting is enhanced with a front zipper, power shoulders and zips on the sleeves. I accessorised it with nude wedged-sandals from Steve Madden and a ring from Mango. As I mentioned above, I decided to leave my hair messy and put a on a dark purple colour on the lip to kill the boring white.
